Accessibility

What we build to, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when something blocks you.

We want anyone to be able to buy food for their animal without fighting the website. This statement describes where we are, honestly.

1. Conformance target

We build velorapets.com to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We test with keyboard navigation, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and NVDA on Windows.

2. What we have done

  • All interactive controls are reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
  • A skip-to-content link is the first focusable element on every page.
  • Body text meets or exceeds a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background; large display text meets 3:1.
  • Every product image carries descriptive alternative text; decorative marks are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Form fields have persistent visible labels — we do not rely on placeholder text alone.
  • Page structure uses real headings and landmarks, in order, so screen-reader users can navigate by structure.
  • Animation is limited and fully suppressed for anyone whose system requests reduced motion.
  • The site reflows to a single column at 320 px and supports 200% text zoom without loss of content.

3. Known limitations

  • Payment fields are rendered inside Stripe- and Square-hosted iframes. Their accessibility is governed by those vendors; both publish AA conformance claims, but we cannot patch their markup. If a payment field blocks you, call us and we will take the order by phone.
  • The price-range slider on the catalog page is operable by keyboard but has no text-entry alternative yet. A numeric input is planned.
  • Product photography alt text describes the subject but not fine texture detail. We are rewriting these entry by entry.

4. Ordering another way

If any part of this site prevents you from completing a purchase, call +1 (386) 353-1425 during support hours and we will place the order with you directly, at the same prices, with no surcharge.

5. Reporting a barrier

Email VeloraPetsLLC@outlook.com with the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use. We acknowledge within two business days and give a fix or a timeline within ten.

6. Assessment

This statement reflects an internal self-assessment carried out on 2 February 2026 using automated (axe-core) and manual keyboard and screen-reader testing. It is not a third-party audit, and we say so rather than implying certification we do not hold.
